Spain

Coordination of the scientific, logistic, and administrative tasks. Assessment and optimisation of nature-based solutions in Spain, evaluation of the attenuation of antibiotics, groundwater modelling of pollutants, and dissemination activities.

Pedro Carvalho

Denmark

Aarhus University will optimise and assess nature-based solutions and river management for contaminant removal. It will also support the analytical activities, collaboration in data handling, and discussion of the main results.

Marisa Almeida

Portugal

CIIMAR team will be involved in risk assessment and toxicology assays, together with estuary monitoring, fieldwork, and pollutant analysis.

Jochen Mueller

Germany

Partner KIT will be mainly responsible for the analysis of bacterial and viral pathogens, antibiotic resistance genes, and mobile genetic elements in water and aquatic biota.

René Kilian

Denmark

Kilian Water will perform the sampling at constructed wetlands, make reports, and carry out the data analysis.

Sidy Ba

Mali

Planning and coordinating the initiation of the research study and implementing NATURE project protocols and operations in Mali.

Problem

The diffusion of antibiotics in aquatic environments contribute to water pollution.

Project overview

Nature project will assess the effectiveness of using NBS to reduce aquatic pollutants.

Solution

Nature-based solutions are green systems to reduce antibiotics, pathogens and antimicrobial resistance from aquatic ecosystems.
